a disaster waiting to strike

i'll call her old betsy
I love the idea of cars. No teen can resist the luxury and opportunity to own one. The summer breeze whipping through my hair and cruising down the long streets. That’s my idea of fun, but did i stop to think about the conquenses of having a car? No! I didn’t have a care in the world that is, until… old betsy came along.
This is old Betsy. She’s a 12 year old 1997 Geo prism. 12 year old? how can someone keep that car without an accident?! might be your thoughts. Well i thought the same. Anyway, so here I am one sunny Sunday afternoon and my parents had finally decided to buy my a new car since I’m going to college. Although, they strictly gave me a certain limit between 1000 and 3000. Then they warned me that the next car I’d have wouldn’t be as descent as the one i smashed into a slap of concrete, but Didn’t care, i was too busy thinking how cool a purple car was. Then my mom had to do one of her own personal inspections, ciricling old Betsy like a hawk and finding every flaw possible. Like; half my bumper was missing, a crack in the windshield, ac couple of scratches, and a dent, but i still didn’t mind. I believed in keeping old Betsy’s originality because that was what made her so special. Only until the next day, that i started to flip when my car wouldn’t start! I had just bought the car accouple of days ago and it all of sudden decided it was time to die?! Not on my watch no! My mom and I thought the battery must’ve died because it took us more than 15 minutes to jump start the car. I seriously thought for a second that it was almost the end of the world and that old Betsy was a big piece of crap, until my mom figured the problem and once again she’s announced genius of all the land. Turns out the old auto start had shut my car off when i was messing with it. Oops. Why do car dealerships and owners keep old items with the car? The world may never know. In the end I’ve decided to protect old Betsy with my life because it might be the last car i’ll drive until I have a hard diploma in my hand from graduating college. I just hope concrete walls are out of the plan this time. anyway feel free to comment on old betsy and laters!
